A child has died after a serious collision on Stock Road in Stock.

Emergency services were alerted to a vehicle colliding with two children, shortly after 8:20 am this morning (Friday, November 3)

Despite the immediate medical response at the scene, one of the children, a young boy, lost his life. The second child involved in the collision was promptly transported to a hospital for treatment.

A 23-year-old male has been taken into custody on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Stock Road remains closed to traffic between School Lane and Honeypot Lane as authorities continue their investigation into the incident.

Detective Inspector Mark Fraser, leading the inquiry from the serious collision investigation unit, acknowledged the sorrowful nature of the incident and its far-reaching impact. He emphasized the importance of refraining from speculation and expressed gratitude to those who have already come forward with information.

"I would also like to thank everyone who has already come forward to speak to us and would urge anyone who has information and not yet spoken to us to please come forward," said Detective Inspector Mark Fraser.
