Nine arrested in drugs raids in south Essex
Police targeted addresses in Southend, Rochford and Benfleet early this morning.
Nine people have been arrested after police raids in Southend, Rochford and Benfleet early this morning.
Officers from several specialist Essex Police teams executed a series of warrants early this morning.
They seized 200 wraps of cocaine, along with £20,000 in cash, weapons. several mobile phones, unused syringes and around £40,000 worth of designer clothes.
A small cannabis grow was located in Southend.
Eight people have been arrested on supsicion of conspiracy to supply cocaine:
- a 38-year-old man at an address in Middle Mead, Rochford;
- a 29-year-old man at an address in Woodlow, Benfleet;
- a 44-year-old man at an address in Jackdaw Close, Shoeburyness;
- a 42-year-old woman at an address in Coleman Street, Southend;
- a 35-year-old man at an address in Portland Avenue, Southend;
- two men, aged 23 and 22, at an address in Bournemouth Park Road, Southend;
- a 30-year-old-man at an address in Carnarvon Place, Southend
Additionally, a 51 year old woman who was arrested in Rochford is being questioned on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis.
Sergeant Adam Jarvis, who is part of a specialist Essex Police team known as South Disrupter, said:
“Drugs and crimes associated with drugs and drug use cause harm to vulnerable people, blight communities and can also lead to more serious types of crime and violence.
“South Disruptor is here to tackle this, but we need your help and information to do so.
“Please tell us what you know about criminal and anti-social behaviour in your area. Car number plates, names, CCTV and doorbell images are particularly helpful, but any information related to crime and criminality may be useful to us.
“Don’t assume we already know.”
