A new four-day festival is coming to Colchester.

An open-air film and street food event is planned from Thursday the 5th of August, with 12 classic movies being shown.

Local food vendors will be showcased, too, as part of the partnership between Colchester Events and Pop-Up Pictures.

Movies will be screened both day and night on the large LED Screen in the park. Visitors can book their film favourites from Greatest Showman, Grease and The Rocky Horror Picture Show to Back to the Future and Bohemian Rhapsody.

There are three daytime sessions which feature 2-4-1 deals; a 'Kids Club' on Friday, with Lion King and Jungle Book; a 'Brunch Club' on Saturday, with Mamma Mia and Dirty Dancing, and on Sunday afternoon the 'Sunday Brunch' with family favourites The Goonies and Never-Ending Story.

Eating Street, a pop-up street food market with a proud 'support local' ethos, will be open throughout the festival for both cinema goers and visitors to the town, with an array of flavours from local street food traders.

The savoury street food line-up includes The Flag Burger, Cowabunga Pizza, Mauritian Nutrition, Sweet P's BBQ & soul food, Suffolk Spice Fusion, with one more to be announced, and for the sweeter tooth, Obscene Waffles and Ravenous Fudge.

Cinema-goers who prefer to bring their own picnic are welcome to do so, by opting for a Picnic Pass ticket when booking their films. Alcohol cannot be brought into Castle Park; a licensed bar will be available inside the cinema arena.

Movie-lovers have been able to enjoy unique outdoor cinema events at Castle Park over many years, courtesy of Colchester Events screening movies during Wimbledon weeks and Pop-Up Pictures in August.

Now the two organisations have joined forces to present an exciting new festival that aims to appeal to those looking to spend quality leisure time safely and locally with family and friends.
