Network Rail has warned of delays to passengers in Essex ahead of Oasis' set of London tour dates on Sunday (September 28th).

The railway authority confirmed that emergency work was being carried out to fix a faulty piece of track between Chadwell Heath and Shenfield.

As a result, there will be no trains running between Shenfield and London Liverpool Street, with buses operating between Newbury Park tube station and Shenfield.

Tube services will remain in service on the Central line, connecting Shenfield to the rest of London, while passengers heading on the Southend Victoria and Southminster line should get off their own train services at Shenfield itself.

On top of this, buses will replace trains between Chadwell Heath and Shenfield, whilst a reduced service of just four trains between Seven Kings and Chadwell Heath on the Elizabeth line.

Network Rail said the work being carried would have to be done this weekend, otherwise speeds on the railway would need to be lowered to 5mph, causing more severe disruption over a longer period.

The authority added: "People going to the Oasis concert at Wembley Stadium on Sunday 28 September should plan ahead and allow extra time for their journeys."

Simon Milburn, who works as the infrastructure director for the Anglia department of Network Rail, said: "We are really sorry for the disruption this is going to cause to passengers at short notice.

"Our engineers have been keeping a very close eye on the faulty rail and sleeper, and the repair now can’t wait any longer.

"This work will help us to avoid a much more disruptive speed restriction or prolonged line closure in future. Thank you everyone for bearing with us."
