The funding means they're able to reopen the Natural History Museum for the first time during the pandemic.

It will welcome visitors back from Tuesday 27th October and will remain open until further notice.

Some interactive visits may not be available though, as part of safety measures brought on by coronavirus.

A one-way system will also be in place, as well as hand sanitiser stations and all visitors will be required to wear face masks.

Councillor Julie Young, Portfolio Holder for Culture and Performance and Deputy Leader of the Council, said: "We are thrilled to be opening the doors, once again, to this hugely popular museum in the heart of Colchester, and just in time for half term.

"Why not combine a trip with a visit to Colchester Castle, where I’ve heard Wally is hiding just across the road!"

The museum is free of charge and due to coronavirus restrictions currently in place in Essex, visitors must remain in family bubbles of no more than six people.
