A drugs runner from Buckingham has been jailed for murdering a father-of-two in Colchester.

31-year-old Murdoch Brown was stabbed five times by Reece McHutcherson in the early hours of 7 May 2019, leaving him to die in the street.

It happened in the Greenstead area when Murdoch and his brother, Robert, planned to speak to someone from a gang on how Robert would repay a debt owed.

They were contacted by Toyn Williams and told to go to Buffett Way, where they met McHutcherson and Jay Dice.

The court heard that Robert explained he would repay his £300 debt the following day, but as he did so, the males they met with pulled out large kitchen knives.

They both fled and Murdoch was stabbed five times.

Residents came to his aid and called emergency services, but he died a short time later.

McHutcherson, 20, was found guilty of Murdoch's murder and jailed for life, to serve a minimum of 20 years, at Chelmsford Crown Court today (24 March).
