A new mural has appeared in a skatepark in Leigh-on-Sea in memory Sir David Amess.

The piece, a portrait of him surrounded by question marks, was created by local artist Madmanity.

The skatepark was opened by Sir David in 2008 and is a couple of miles away from Belfairs Methodist Church where he was killed on Friday.

The mural is titled 'Why?', a question that residents in the area are still asking, days after the attack on Sir David.

"I don't believe this has still happened. To have something like this happen to someone who was so tied to our community, it doesn't feel real", a local resident told IRN.

Sir David was stabbed while hosting a constituency surgery in Leigh-on-Sea.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of his murder - police have until Friday to question him.
