Man threatened with sword in Harlow

It happened yesterday afternoon at The Water Gardens

Police are investigating an incident which took place in Harlow yesterday, Wednesday 24 July,, which involved a group of people threatening a man with a weapon.

Officers were called to The Water Gardens shortly after 4.10pm.

When they arrived, they found a man had been threatened with a what’s described as a small sword.

The man did not sustain any injuries.

At this stage, no arrests have been made and police are following a number of targeted lines of enquiry and want to hear from the public.

Detective Inspector Karen Knibbs, of Harlow CID, said: “We know this incident took place in public and will have shocked those who saw it.

“I’d like to thank the members of the public who alerted us to it, which meant officers were able to respond within a matter of minutes.

“At this stage, no arrests have been made and we’re following several lines of enquiry, which include reviewing CCTV footage as we piece together the moments before and after this incident.

“Anyone who witnessed the incident or any behaviour in the lead up to it should get in contact with us as soon as possible.”
