Man robbed by men armed with hammers in Colchester

A man has been robbed by two armed men in Colchester.

Both attackers were holding hammers while one of them was also armed with a machete.

It happened in Cannon Street last night (21 March) between 10.05pm and 10.10pm.

The victim - a man in his 20s - suffered rib injuries and had a three-figure sum of cash taken.

He did not require hospital treatment.

Police believe the attackers left the scene towards Hythe Hill.

One of the suspects is described as white and was wearing a black hooded top, with the Crosshatch logo on the back, and a balaclava.

The other man is also white but there is no further description of him.

Officers are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or has information on it to submit a report online or use the 'Live Chat' button to speak to an online operator between 7am and 11pm.
