A man has been rescued by Essex County Fire and Rescue Service after his car went through the front of a house.

Three crews were called to Duncan Road in Colchester yesterday at 3:21pm, as well as an Urban Search and Rescue team.

Firefighters from ECFRS freed the man by removing the rear seat to get him onto a stretcher.

He was conscious and breathing, and left in the care of the Ambulance service less than an hour later.

Station Manager Ryan Ainger said: "Crews did a professional job in stabilising the vehicle and removing the man safely.

"Our Urban Search and Rescue team also carried out a structural assessment of the property."
