A man has tried to steal another man’s mobile phone in Colchester and pulled out a 'large knife' when confronted.

The victim, who is in his 20s, was approached from behind by another man in Hythe Hill at around 1.10am today (19 June).

The man tried to steal the victim’s phone and when he was confronted produced what has been described as a large knife.

He has been described as black, around 5ft 9ins tall, with shoulder-length dreadlocked hair and wearing a black top and jeans.
