Man jailed for 15 years for involvement in the robbery of Mark Cavendish
Jo Jobson has been sentenced today at Chelmsford Crown Court
A third man has been sentenced today (November 1) for his role in the robbery at the Essex home of Mark Cavendish.
27-year-old Jo Jobson, of no fixed address, was today sentenced to 15 years in prison at Chelmsford Crown Court.
Olympic cyclist, Mark Cavendish, and his wife Peta were both home with their children when a balaclava-clad gang with knives entered their Ongar home, threatened them and stole two Richard Mille watches worth £700,000 in November 2021.
Jobson had denied two counts of robbery but was found guilty after a trial on Monday (October 30).
In February, two other men; Romario Henry and Ali Sesay, were sentenced for their hole in the robbery, with police still searching for a fourth suspect - George Goddard.
Jobson handed himself in to Chelmsford Police Station in June this year, a total of 18 months after police issued a photo appeal for him as a suspect.
Judge Timothy Walker, sentencing Jobson on Wednesday, described the robbery as “targeted and carefully planned”, involving “at least four people, possibly more”.
Mr and Mrs Cavendish were at home with their children at the time of the robbery.
The judge said the effects on the family had been “dreadful”.
Jobson showed no reaction as his sentence was read out, and smiled and shrugged to a small group of supporters in court as he was led to the cells.
Mr Cavendish did not attend the sentencing.
