An Ilford man has been jailed for three years for stabbing another man at a set of traffic lights in Loughton last year.

22 year old Junior Lawrence, of New North Road, carried out the attack shortly after 7:25pm on August 4.

Witnesses told police they saw Lawrence get out of a red Ford Fiesta and approach a white VW Caddy.

He then stabbed the driver through the window before driving away from the scene.

The victim was later found on Church Hill Road having suffered injuries to his stomach and chest.

Paramedics on scene said the actions of police and members of the public likely saved the life of the man, in his 20s.

Lawrence was arrested around 15 minutes after the attack in Chigwell. He was found to have blood on his clothing.

He admitted GBH without intent and possession of a blade in a public place at Chelmsford Crown Court.

Investigating officer PC Cove, of Essex Police, said: “Junior Lawrence stabbed the victim in broad daylight at a busy junction.

“The actions of the attending officers and members of the public where the victim was found ensured his prognosis was not even more serious.

“Lawrence now faces a significant amount of time behind bars and Essex is a safer place as a result.”
