Man jailed for stabbing two outside Basildon nightclub
He's been sentenced to over three years in jail
A 20-year-old man who stabbed two men outside a Basildon nightclub has been jailed.
Wagner Silva, of Starboard Way in London, was involved in a disturbance in October last year at Unit 7 in Festival Leisure Park.
He was seen to be in a group of about 15 people when a fight broke out within the group.
The convicted then revealed a large silver knife which had been concealed in his trousers and stabbed two men.
They sustained wounds to the legs and arms, none of which were life threatening.
Silva was sentenced to three years and six months behind bars, having previously admitted all charges - two counts of GBH with intent, possession of a bladed article and possession of cannabis - in November.
PC Will Belsham, of Basildon CID, led the investigation.
He said: “This incident could have ended up being much worse for Silva’s victims and indeed himself.
“It happened in front of hundreds of people who were outside a nightclub in Festival Leisure Park, in Basildon.
“Officers were able to clearly identify him as a result of CCTV from the park’s control room.
“Unfortunately for him, that meant he had no option but to admit his guilt.
“The fact that Silva had a concealed knife with him on this night out shows he was intent on committing crime and this incident could have ended up much, much worse for every person involved.”
