Man jailed after causing death by careless driving in Colchester

A man who admitted causing death by careless driving in Colchester has been jailed for one year.

Bandile Xozumti drove into the Spinnaker pub, in Hythe Quay, shortly before 1am on 3 November, 2019.

Sadly, Stuart McClung died as a result of injuries he suffered in the collision.

Several other people sustained injuries as a result of the incident.

Xozumti, of Waterside Lane, Colchester, admitted causing Mr McClung’s death by careless driving and was sentenced at Chelmsford Crown Court yesterday (17 June).

The 41 year-old was also disqualified from driving for two years.
