Man in 'life-threatening' condition after crash on A12 near Colchester

A man has suffered a head injury and is in a "life-threatening" condition after a crash on the A12 near Colchester.
Essex Police has confirmed they were called at around 3.35pm yesterday (5 May) to a collision involving a lorry and a man.
It happened on the A12, London-bound, between junction 27 and 26.
A spokesperson for the force said:
"A man in his 30’s sustained a head injury which is currently considered as life-threatening.
"The road was closed in both directions whilst emergency services dealt with the incident and to allow the air ambulance to land.
"The man was flown to hospital."
An East of England Ambulance Service spokesperson added:
"I can confirm that EEAST responded to an emergency call on the 5 May shortly before 4pm regarding an incident on the A12 southbound near Stanway, Colchester.
"We sent two ambulances, two rapid response cars and an Essex and Herts Air Ambulance also attended the scene.
"One patient was transported by air ambulance to Addenbrookes Hospital."
