Man in critical condition after 'disturbance' in Southend
A man has been questioned on suspicion of GBH
A man has suffered serious injuries in who police are calling a 'disturbance' in Southend.
Officers were called to Southchurch Avenue, close to the junction with Woodgrange Drive, shortly after 10:50pm on Monday (June 13).
A man was found a pavement with serious head injuries. He's in a critical condition in hospital.
One man has been arrested on suspicion of GBH and remains in custody for questioning.
Police are appealing for witnesses.
Detective Chief Inspector Antony Alcock, who is leading the Essex Police investigation, said:
“We know there are a number of people who witnessed this incident who have not yet come forward to speak to us and I would encourage those people to please get in touch.
“Equally, we are also keen to hear from anyone who may have captured the incident on their mobile phone or on dashcam.
“I would like to thank those people who have already come forward to give their accounts. Those accounts are helping my team to piece together the circumstances around this incident.
"Although our investigation is in its early stages, at this stage we do not believe there is any wider threat to the public.”
