Man detained in Italy in connection with Essex lorry deaths
39 people were found in a lorry trailer in Grays in October 2019
A 27 year-old man has been detained by Italian authorities and officers from the National Crime Agency just outside Milan.
It comes after an International Arrest warrant was carried out in Italy this afternoon (10 June).
The arrest is in connection with the ongoing investigation into the deaths of 39 people who were discovered in a lorry trailer in Grays in October 2019.
Dragos Damian has been charged with conspiracy to assist unlawful immigration and encouraging or assisting the commission of an offence.
Essex Police has said they are awaiting details of a court appearance in Italy.
