Man charged with Rochford Burglary on Christmas Day

A man has been charged with the aggravated burglary of a home in Rochford on Christmas Day.

Police were called to the scene in Dapple Close at about 6.50pm on Monday 25 December 2023.

It was reported two suspects had forced entry to the property and injured one of the occupants.

Officers arrested a man within 45 minutes of attending the scene

Now 54-year-old Gary Sutton, of Elizabeth Gardens in Rochford, has been charged with aggravated burglary, obstructing a police officer and a public order offence.

He has been remanded in custody and will appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court today (Thursday 28th December).

Sergeant Amber Chimes, of the Essex Police Criminal Investigations Department, said: “These charges were only possible thanks to the diligent work of our officers, investigating this incident quickly and building a case for the Crown Prosecution Service.”
