Man charged with murder after attack in Vange

The man died seven months after the attack in a 'communal hallway'

A man has been charged with murder following the death of a man who was assaulted in Vange in 2024.

Detectives launched an investigation after emergency services were called to Riverview Centre shortly after 6pm on Saturday 4 May last year.

They found a seriously injured man in the communal hallway.

He was taken to hospital and received extensive medical care, but sadly Hassan Bousanguar passed away in December 2024.

Now, 33-year-old Codey Nolan, of HMP Chelmsford, has been charged with his murder.

He is due to appear at Basildon Magistrates’ Court on 14 July.

Acting Detective Chief Inspector Lydia George, said:

“A huge amount of work has been undertaken by our officers since this incident was first reported to us in May last year.

“Throughout that time, the victim’s family have acted with the upmost dignity, and I would ask that their privacy continues to be respected while this case continues to court.”
