Man charged with arson after historic boat damaged in Harwich

Police now believe it may also be linked to a second fire on Friday

Essex Police say a 33-year-old man has been charged with four counts of arson, following two fires in Harwich on Friday night (February 2).

Christopher Parker, of Alexandra Street has been remanded in custody to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates Court today (February 6).

It follows two fires on Friday evening which were originally not thought to be linked, but further investigation has identified links between the two and are now being treated as connected.

The fires damaged a historic boat, as well as a railway station, surrounding commercial premises and nearby vehicles at the second fire.
