A man has been charged with attempted murder following reports of assault in Broomfield over the weekend.

They found a man in his forties who had sustained a head injury, who was then taken to hospital.
He remains in hospital and his injury is described as life changing.
A 70-year-old man was arrested on Sunday (May 7) and has now been charged with attempted murder.
Chacko Thenakarayil, 70, of Hornbeam Gardens has been remanded in custody to appear at Southend-on-Sea Magistrates' Court on Tuesday 9 May to answer a charge of attempted murder.
Leading the investigation, Detective Sergeant Jack Mabbett, said:
“I appreciate that this will have caused concern amongst the local residents, but we responded quickly, and a man was arrested and he is in police custody.
“There is no wider concern to the public and we will continue to investigate the circumstances of the assault.
“I’d ask anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the assault or has footage of the incident to contact us. They may even have heard a disturbance at the location.”
