Man arrested on suspicion of kidnapping after girl approached in Harlow

It comes after a man approached a young girl earlier this week and tried to lead her away

A man has been arrested after a young girl in Harlow reported being approached by a man who tried to lead her away earlier this week.

The incident happened at around 5:30pm on Monday (November 7) on the cycle track near to Hook Field and Rushes Mead.

The girl managed to get away and wasn't hurt.

A 30 year-old man from Harlow is being questioned on suspicion of kidnapping and possession Class B drugs.

Detective Inspector Tony Atkin of Essex Police said: “We are continuing to support the girl and her family and ensure their welfare.

“Our investigation is progressing but I still need anyone who saw anything or has any footage from the area at the time who we’ve not spoken to to come forward.

“I know this incident will be concerning to the public but we have had extra high visibility patrols in the area to provide reassurance.”
