A 22-year-old man from Rainham, London, has been arrested and released on bail after a pedestrian was involved in a crash with a car in Chelmsford.

Police were called to Glebe Road on Sunday (August 27), just before 9:10am, where the car had left the scene.

The pedestrian was left with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Officers were then able to trace the car to Hylands Park Car Park in Chelmsford, by 10:10am, where the man was detained and arrested.

He was questioned on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, failing to stop, driving under the influence and being concerned in supplying a controlled drug.

The man has been released whilst officers continue their enquiries.
