Man arrested following fatal crash in Colchester

A cyclist died in hospital from his injuries.

A man's been arrested following the death of a cyclist in a crash in Colchester.

Police were called to reports a white Mercedes had been in a collision with a cyclist on the Northern Approach, near the junction with Bruff Close, at around 7pm on Friday 15th October.

The cyclist, a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries but died a short time later.

A man was arrested in connection with the incident on suspicion of causing death by careless driving, and driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs.

He's since been released under investigation.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw what happened, or has appropriate dashcam footage of the crash to come forward.
