Man arrested over Colchester hit-and-run

A teenage girl was left with serious injuries on Sunday night

A man has been arrested after a teenage girl was injured in a hit-and-run in Colchester at the weekend.

The 20-year-old from Leighton Buzzard has been arrested on suspicion of a number of offences, including causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

The motorcyclist who was hit on Magnolia Drive, is still in hospital.

She is in a stable condition but has injuries which may be life-changing.

The man has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop at the scene of a collision, failing to report a collision, and driving without a licence and without insurance. He remains in custody for questioning.

Anyone with information about the driver of this vehicle, or anyone who witnessed the incident, or may have relevant CCTV or dash cam footage is asked to call Essex Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 101.

The incident number to quote is 840 of 28 March.
