Man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after 16-year-old stabbed in Colchester

The victim's said to be in a life-threatening condition

A 16-year-old boy is in a life threatening condition in hospital after being stabbed last night in Colchester (January 9).

Essex Police were called to Queen Street around 6:30pm after reports of a serious assault against a boy - he was found with stab wounds and taken to hospital.

A 20-year-old man was arrested by Essex Police on suspicion of attempted murder in the early hours of this morning and he remains in custody.

Officers say two police scenes still remain in place; one in Priory Street and one in Queen Street.

They're appealing for any information, and say officers will remain in the area today.

Detective Chief Inspector Gregory Wood said “We appreciate that this is a concerning incident for residents but please be reassured that we are investigating this assault thoroughly.

“Our officers responded quickly and arrested a 20-year-old man this morning on suspicion of attempted murder.

“Residents will notice an increased police presence in the area today.

“We are asking anyone who was in the area last night and may have witnessed anything to contact us and assist with our investigation.”
