A man has been arrested by Essex Police on suspicion of arson, after a fire in Harlow on Monday evening (December 4).

Officers were called to North House in Bush Fair just before 8:40pm on Monday, along with other emergency services.

Those in the building have been displaced due to the fire which was extinguished by firefighters.

Shortly after the fire, a 37-year-old man was arrested by Police and he is being questioned in custody on suspicion of arson.

Essex Police say they're continuing to work with witnesses to piece together the minutes before the fire, and are asking anyone who saw anything suspicious or anyone with information to get in touch.

Investigators from Essex County Fire and Rescue Service, and forensic teams are examining the scene and a specialist electrical contractor will assess the damage to the building’s electrics.
