Man arrested after reports of sexual assaults in Southend

A man has been arrested in connection to reports of women being sexual assaulted on Southend High Street.

Police attended just after 4pm yesterday, it was reported the officer was assaulted during the arrest and he has been taken to hospital..

A 37 year-old man from Southend was arrested inside the Royals Shopping Centre, he is currently in custody.

Essex police said:

"We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the reported assaults on the High Street or have any information about them to contact us.
