Man and two dogs rescued from Basildon flat fire
A full investigation into the cause believes an electrical device was at fault
Firefighters in Essex have rescued a man and two dogs from a flat fire in Basildon.
Crews from Essex County Fire and Rescue Service (ECFRS) were called to The Hyde, Langdon Hills, where a second floor flat fire was found heavily smoke logged and beginning to spread to the flat above.
Firefighters from Rayleigh Leigh and Hawkwell were called to support the Basildon Crew, along with an Aerial Ladder Platform from Grays.
A drone was also used to monitor hotspots.
Officers say an investigation into the cause leads them to believe an electrical device was at fault.
Station Manager Andre Turner, Fire Investigation Officer said: “Unfortunately two flats have been left badly damaged from this fire but we are pleased to hear that a man who was initially taken to hospital is now out. Two dogs were also rescued from the incident and we understand that after being taken to a local vets they are also doing well.
"We've now carried out a full fire investigation and believe the most likely cause was an electrical device.”
