Essex Police are putting a dispersal order in place this weekend, after concerns about anti-social behaviour in the area.

Maldon and parts of Chelmsford are included from when the order begins at 8am on Friday (August 25).

It will be in place until Sunday (August 27).

The order gives officers in the area extra powers to ask people to move or leave the area if they suspect they could cause issues later, even if they are not at the time police speak with them.

The area, pictured above, covers most of the Maldon and Danbury parishes and the main river network for the river Chelmer from Chelmsford to Maldon.

Acting Inspector Graham Thomas said:

“We want to prevent any disruption or disorder within the area specified, as we continue our work to keep people in Maldon safe.

“Anti-social behaviour is not low-level offending, and we are all too aware of the impact this offence will have on businesses and residents during the summer months.”
