Major agricultural event to return in Tendring
The Tendring Hundred Farmers’ Club had been cancelled in 2020 and last year due to Covid-19

As many as 20,000 people are set for a return to one of Tendring’s biggest agricultural events of the year following an hiatus of two years.
The Tendring Hundred Farmers’ Club had been cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to Covid-19 restrictions.
But now it is set for a return at its home in Lawford House Park, near Manningtree on July 9.
Tendring Show is advertised as the county’s premier agricultural event and attracts crowds in the region of 20,000 each year – combining entertainment with over 250 trade-stands and exhibits.
Tendring Hundred Farmers Club, which runs the show has now applied to Tendring District Council for a Temporary Event Notice.
It is also now searching looking for a show secretary, to run the organisation and management of the event.
The Tendring Hundred is described as family show that brings together rural and urban communities in the Essex region.
For the past two years it has been on hold due to restrictions.
A statement from the organisers last year said: “Due to the continuing uncertainty around the coronavirus pandemic, the Tendring Hundred Farmers’ Club has made the difficult but necessary decision to cancel the 2021 Tendring Show.
“Although we have been encouraged by the Government’s roadmap for the lifting of lockdown, ending social distancing and the removal of all restrictions by June 21, these are best-case dates.
“July 10 is only three weeks after the earliest date for restrictions to end and any delays to those dates can easily impact our show.
“As a charitable organisation, it would be irresponsible for us to take on the financial risk of a show that could still be curtailed or cancelled, because the potential losses would threaten its future.”
