Machete found hidden down teen's trousers in Colchester
Police had stopped two people acting suspiciously on an e-scooter
A sixteen-year-old boy is under investigation in Colchester - on suspicion of being in possession of a bladed article in a public place.
It's after police stopped and searched two people - who were seen "behaving suspiciously" on an e-scooter on Lexden Road.
A nineteen-year-old driver was allegedly in possession of a quantity of cannabis and the sixteen-year-old passenger allegedly had the pictured machete concealed down his trousers.
The cannabis was dealt with at scene and the boy remains under investigation on suspicion of being in possession of a bladed article in a public place.
The e-scooter was also seized as it was being ridden without insurance.
Section 163 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 gives officers the power to stop any vehicle on the roads.
Stops using this traffic power often lead to the disruption of other types of crime which 'cause significant harm in our communities', officers said.
