M11 closed in Essex after serious multi-vehicle collision

Motorway expected to stay closed southbound for some time

Long delays are expected after a serious collision involving multiple vehicles on the M11 in Essex.

The first reports of the incident were received at approximately 4.15pm this afternoon.

Police have said the southbound carriageway is likely to remain closed for some time between junctions 7A and 7 (Harlow) while emergency services deal with the incident.

Motorists have been urged to comply with instructions as police put in place a system to release traffic.

In a statment, police appealed for any witnesses to come forward:

"We need anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam or mobile phone footage of it to get in contact.

"You can let us know by submitting a report on our website or by using our online Live Chat service available Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays) between 10am-9pm.

"Alternatively, you can call us on 101.We need anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam or mobile phone footage of it to get in contact."
