Station Road closed in Lawford after lorry breaks level crossing barriers at Manningtree

Station Road in Lawford is closed because of an accident.

The road in Manningtree has been shut after a lorry hit the level crossing which damaged the railways barriers.

The incident happened this afternoon (Wednesday, July 14).

Network Rail Anglia have tweeted: "A lorry has hit the level crossing barriers at Manningtree... trains are running but need to be cautioned through this area, causing delays between London and Norwich.

" When the lights are flashing at level crossings STOP and WAIT for your own safety."

Greater Anglia have confirmed that their trains have been disrupted.

They said on Twitter: "14:48 Stansted Airport to Norwich will be started from Cambridge."

They added: "It will no longer call at Stansted Airport, Audley End and Whittlesford Parkway. This is due to a fault with barriers at a level crossing."
