The closure was put in place to allow for a deep clean of the facility, while other members of staff are self-isolating.

TDC has announced it will reopen on Tuesday 27th October, but the swimming pool opening hours will be reduced for the first two days due to staff numbers.

All lessons and courses will go ahead as normal and the rest of the leisure centre will fully open on Tuesday, but users still need to pre-book all sessions.

The authority explained Covid-secure safety measures remain in place across the leisure centre, including hand sanitiser stations and mandatory face coverings when moving around in the facilities.

Alex Porter, TDC Cabinet Member for Leisure and Tourism, said: "“I would like to thank everyone for their patience while we undertook this precautionary measure, important to make sure we keep staff and centre users safe.

"We’re glad to be re-opening again so quickly given the size of the centre for deep cleaning, and I am grateful to our staff and contractors for responding so quickly to this. I’m also happy to hear the staff member who tested positive at Clacton Leisure Centre is continuing to do well.

"Leisure centres are important places for our community, enabling residents to keep fit and well, which is why we’re working so hard to keep them up and running in a Covid-secure way."

Clacton Leisure Centre will be accepting bookings from 3pm today, 23rd October.
