Almost 50 knives taken off Essex streets
Officers also arrested 21 people during a week of action to tackle knife crime.
Essex Police took part in Operation Sceptre between 9th and 15th November which aims to tackle knife and violent crime.
Out of the 21 people arrested, officers found five knives through stop and searches.
The force's Operation Raptor units, which targets drug and gang-related criminals, seized £15,000 in cash, 800 wraps of Class A drugs and arrested eight people.
Targeted patrols were carried out across the county and 46 knives were recovered in total.
Some of them had been left by passengers at Stansted Airport as some weapons are not illegal in other parts of the world.
Detective Chief Inspector Lewis Basford said: "These are just some of the results we’re getting every single week from our ongoing efforts to target criminals involved in knife and drugs crime.
"Officers are out every day on patrol, carrying out drugs warrants, and gathering information and evidence against offenders.
"We’ve also been working closely with UK Border Force to tackle the importation of drugs and prohibited weapons.
“Items that are bought online and destined for Essex are intercepted at a postal hub near Heathrow, and passed to us for investigation.
"Since February, more than 120 parcels have been stopped and seized, preventing drugs and weapons from reaching the streets of Essex."
Essex Police highlighted the importance of engaging with and educating young people on the dangers of carrying weapons and avoiding crime.
DCI Basford continued: "If we can intervene at the earliest opportunity we can prevent people from being harmed and help young people steer away from crime."
The force is part of the Essex Violence and Vulnerability Unit which carries out operations, interventions, awareness and education programmes to support young people involved, or at risk of being involved, in crime.
