With just a month to go until the Queen's 70th Jubilee, the organisers of a celebratory event in Essex tell us their plans for the celebrations are well underway.

Rachel Woodcraft is organising the Festival in the Gardens, a three day party featuring music and comedy, which will take place in Braintree and Bocking Public Gardens on 3rd, 4th & 5th June.

She says there's already been lots of interest in the event: "We haven't done much advertising yet and the ticket sales are just flying out, especially for the Saturday.

"We've also got some incredible acts on the Friday and Sunday, and it should just be a great weekend."

She also says they'll be a classic Jubilee touch: "We've got lots and lots of bunting, and loads of pimms!"

Elliot Richardson is in charge of organising the music for the festival, which has already announced performances from acts including Miss Disco, Grand Theft Audio, Beans on Toast, Missing Andy, The Tom's Braggins Trio and Fox Wiggle and Sass.

He's hoping the event will put Braintree on the map: "It's great to build something for the Braintree community because there isn't really anything else like this at the moment in the area, so we're pleased to be the first to do it."

Alongside live music, there'll also be a comedy tent, which James Beatty is organising. He's looking forward to bringing lots of comedy talent to Essex, including comedians who may be workshopping their shows before heading up to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, which takes place shortly afterwards.

He says the event will offer something for everyone: "It's a beautiful time, it's great to celebrate the jubilee all together with friends and family.

"What's better than having a dance, sing-song and laughing at some comedy?

"Food, drinks, entertainment and good weather - it's going to be incredible and I'm excited to be there and be a part of it!"
