Man charged in connection with Jaywick murder

A woman died in hospital after suffering head injuries

Police have charged a man in connection with the death of a woman in Jaywick.

The victim, aged in her 40s, suffered serious head injuries on Friday night (23 April) and died in hospital on Sunday (25 April).

It was reported that she was assaulted on Beach Way at 10pm.

31-year-old Bobby Nethercott, of Park Square East in Jaywick, has been charged with murder.

He's also been charged with two counts of ABH in connection with the same incident and remanded in custody to appear at Colchester Magistrates' Court today (27 April).

Five other people have were also arrested following the incident, including a 28-year-old man of suspicion of affray, who's been released on bail until 22 May.

A 20-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of attempted murder has been further arrested on suspicion of murder and affray.

She has been released on bail until 24 May.

A man, aged 20, arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and further arrested on suspicion of murder has been released on bail until 20 May.

Police also arrested a 25-year-old woman on suspicion of attempted murder, who was then further arrested on suspicion of murder and affray.

She has been released on bail until 24 may and will face no further action for attempted murder.

A 17-year-old boy, arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, was also further arrested on suspicion of murder and bailed until 21 May.
