Jail for brothers who wore latex masks for watch store robbery

Two brothers who wore latex face masks while robbing an Epping jewellers have been jailed for a combined total of 31 years.

The incident happened in September 2021, as the two males posed as elderly men, they took a valuable Rolex watch, worth £15,000.

The masks were found several weeks later after a vehicle was stopped, with the DNA of 28 year old George Murphy-Bristow and 37 year old Benjamin Murphy on the items.

They received an 18 year and 13 year custodial sentence respectively.

Detective Inspector Yoni Adler of the Serious and Organised Crime Unit said:

“Benjamin Murphy and his brother George Murphy-Bristow planned this robbery, to use masks that would help them avoid detection.

"But it was the forensic examination amongst other detailed Detective work & proactive Policing that proved the pair were directly linked to the robbery.

“I want to thank the store's staff for supporting our investigation following an undoubtedly frightening incident, but I hope that they can now move on.”
