An investigation is underway after a house fire in Westcliffe last night.

Crews were called to St Helens Road at 8:56pm last night, with the flames under control around two hours later.

Nobody inside the home was hurt.

Essex Fire Group Manager Marc Diggory said: "We believe the fire started in a bedroom on the top floor of the three-storey property and crews did a fantastic job of stopping it from spreading.

"Crews are extinguishing hotspots and we hope to scale down the incident and reopen roads in the area soon; thank you to residents for your patience."
