Harlow woman convicted of murder after stabbing husband to death
She's been warned to expect a life sentence.
A woman who stabbed her husband to death in Harlow earlier this year has been convicted of murder.
52 year old Rebecca Searing, of Ryecroft, called paramedics at around 2:12am on February 12, reporting that she'd attacked husband, 57 year old Paul Searing.
Paul was taken to hospital but died around three hours later.
Rebecca made a number of statements to officers at the scene, including “I can’t believe I’ve just done this” and “I will go down for this”.
She was arrested on suspicion of murder but denied the charge at Chelmsford Crown Court.
Today (August 25) was was found guilty, showing no emotion as the verdict was announced.
She'll be sentenced at the same court on September 7.
Investigating officer Detective Inspector Lydia George, of Essex Police, said: “Paul Searing lost his life in a moment of extreme violence and Rebecca Searing’s actions were fatal.
“And while she may have some regret for what has happened, that cannot undo the consequences of her actions.
“She now faces a life sentence and a significant amount of time behind bars.”
