Three men who burgled a jewellery store on Canvey Island have been jailed for a total of nine and a half years.

Brothers Ricky Wilson, 30, and Daniel Wilson, 27, together with Scott Flemming, 29, were sentenced at Basildon Crown Court last Friday.

They had all previously admitted stealing £1,300 of jewellery after breaking into Paradise Jewellery in Furtherwick Road on 9 May 2022.

Investigating officer DC Emma Taylor, of Castle Point and Rochford CID, said after the case:

“Commercial burglaries are rare on Canvey Island but when they do happen, they are distressing for all those affected."

“And they harm people’s livelihoods as the loss of business and the cost to put right the damage caused often far outweighs the value of the goods stolen."

“Not only are they prolific offenders but the Wilson brothers and Flemming also showed a blatant disregard for the safety of other motorists when Ricky Wilson reached speeds of up to 110mph as they escaped from the scene of their crime."

“However, they are now off our streets and behind bars where they belong.”

Ricky Wilson, of Pattiswick Square, was jailed for a total of 38 months for burglary and for dangerous driving.

He was banned from driving for 54 months and ordered to take an extended retest if he re-applies for a licence at the end of his ban. He was also ordered to pay a £190 court surcharge.

Daniel Wilson, of the same address, was jailed for 22 months for burglary and ordered to pay a £156 court surcharge.

Flemming, of no fixed address, was jailed for 18 months for burglary and also ordered to pay a £156 court surcharge.
