Owner of Southend United football club Ron Martin has made the announcement that the club is formally available for sale or for new investors.

The Shrimpers trust have expressed concern about the short-term future of the team on their website. Stating:

“Ultimately though, little changes Immediately."

“The embargo remains in place due to unresolved issues with HMRC, some staff members are still behind on salaries, and the club’s ability to meet its financial obligations for at least the next three months continues to be in doubt.”

The Trust hope to hold a meeting with owner Ron Martin next week to express their concerns.

“We have been in contact with Ron Martin regarding an update on such matters over the past 48 hours and a meeting is expected to be held next week.”

Despite worries about the clubs immediate future the Trust want to show the strength of their support to potential investors and feel that this is the beginning of a “positive change” for the future of the club.
