Greater Anglia is reminding the public it is both illegal and dangerous to trespass on railways across the country.

The warning comes after British Transport Police were called to reports of a photoshoot taking place near Beccles at the weekend.

The region's rail operator is urging people to consider the consequences of trespassing on the railway.

Spokesperson for Greater Anglia, Lucy Wright, said: "It is highly illegal and highly dangerous. The railway is not a playground, it is not a backdrop for a photoshoot, it's totally inappropriate and very unsafe."

As well as being dangerous, trespassing can results in fines of £1,000 and have wider impacts.

Lucy continued: "This can cause severe psychological impacts on our staff. They're highly trained, all of our rail staff, but it can be so frightening just to see somebody on the tracks.

"Also, it can delay trains and have knock-on effects for the wider railway."

Greater Anglia is asking the public to report any incidents of trespassing to British Transport Police or a member of railway staff.
