Grays man charged a year after collision left two runners with serious injuries

A man's been charged with driving offences over a year after he was involved in a crash with two runners in Grays.

Detectives have continued their inquiries since the incident, which took place in Grays on the evening of Wednesday 8 November 2023.

Two women were running along Dock Road shortly after 8.10pm when they were in collision with a vehicle at the junction with Marshfoot Road and Old Dock Approach Road.

The women suffered serious and lasting injuries and their recovery is ongoing.

Following an investigation, a man was arrested in connection with the collision on 26 November 2023 and subsequently released under investigation while inquiries progressed.

Two charges of causing serious injury by careless or inconsiderate driving have now been authorised against Hurshdip Singh, 22, of Blackshots Lane, Grays.

He is due to appear at Southend Magistrates’ Court on Monday 17 March.

Police continue to ask anyone who has any relevant information to come forward.
