A new 'Click and Collect' service for garden waste recycling sacks is being trialled in Colchester.

From today (13 April), people on sack collections will be able to order replacement garden sacks online and collect them from the visitor centre at High Woods Country Park.

Colchester Borough Council has said this new service will initially be trialled for four weeks.

If successful, the council will look to continue offering it, including a wider range of recycling containers and more pick up locations.

The borough council's Neighbourhood team has been delivering recycling containers to those that need them over the last year, due to many local businesses and organisations used as stockists having to close because of coronavirus guidelines.

Redeployed council staff are said to have made this delivery service possible.

But, the council has said a "more sustainable" system needs to be found, working in partnership with community organisations and businesses.
