A senior councillor says the arrival of the new Freeport East will be great news for Tendring and Essex.

The new investment zone - which will cover the Port of Harwich and offer business tax incentives - was given the go ahead yesterday.

The County's Cabinet Member for economic renewal Councillor Lesley Wagland says the programme will help residents access new skills and jobs.

Cllr Lesley Wagland OBE, Essex County Council Cabinet Member for Economic Renewal, Infrastructure and Planning, said:

“Government approval of the full business case for Freeport East is great news for Tendring and Essex.

“The Freeport East programme will make a big difference to the ability of Tendring residents to access new skills and jobs, and demonstrates ECC’s commitment to doing all it can to ensure this exciting project delivers Levelling Up across Essex.”
