Last week, an unusual call for help reached the South Essex Wildlife Hospital in Orsett as a young fox cub found itself in a precarious situation, its head firmly lodged in the plughole of a sink.

Recounting the incident, the hospital say that when their wildlife officer Tom arrived, the cub was visibly distressed, and its attempts to free itself had resulted in injuries to its paws,

Efforts to dislodge the cub were met with challenges, but the hospital say with Tom's experience in such rescues - "and a little wiggling and patience" they managed to get the cub free.

The cub was in need of immediate medical attention however,

Transported to the Hospital site in Orsett, the cub underwent thorough examination and treatment. Staff also attended to the cub's injured paw, ensuring proper care and medication to alleviate swelling.

At the hospital, the cub is receiving care from staff, including a course of anti-swelling medication.

And they are expecting the little one to make a full recovery.

In light of this rescue and countless others, the South Essex Wildlife Hospital are employing the public to continue supporting them, saying: "every donation enables us to rescue and rehabilitate wildlife in need."
