Four men arrested on suspicion of rape
The arrests are all in connection with separate investigations
Essex Police have arrested four men on suspicion of rape.
The arrests took place in Colchester and Dunmow yesterday (February 26) and are in connection with four separate investigations.
Officer's from the force's Operational Support Group carried out the arrests, as part of their role to execute warrants, gather intelligence and arrest people wanted in connection with ongoing investigations.
They also arrested five others last night, for offences including burglary and GBH.
Superintendent Phil Stinger said “The work that our Operational Support Group does supports officers and staff across the force with progressing investigations and ultimately keeping people safe.
“Rape investigations are complex but our Crime and Public Protection Unit are committed to investigating all reports of sexual offences thoroughly and our OSG officers will continue to support in facilitating arrests such as these.”
